God Earns Our Trust to Love Us
Trust was the bedrock of God’s relationship with Adam and Eve, allowing open communication, obedience, and love to flourish.
So, to spoil everything, dirty, rotten Satan attacked God’s trustworthiness. In his conversation with Eve, he essentially said, “Wait, did God really say you’re not allowed to eat from every tree in the garden? Wow, you don’t trust Him, do you?” (Genesis 3:1). “Nobody is going to die if you eat a little fruit” (3:4). “God just doesn’t want you to eat it because then you’ll be like Him and know what He knows. Believe me, you shouldn’t trust Him” (3:5).
Not trusting God’s love led to a cataclysmic cosmic catastrophe.
And yet, despite Satan’s lie and humanity’s failure, God initiated restoration. God was committed to the relationship when they were not. He is faithful and trustworthy even if we are not.

Moses learned in his experience of God,
Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation…
The Lord’s faithfulness launched 100 psalms,
Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.
God’s proven trustworthiness filled Isaiah with great joy and praise,
Isaiah 25:1 O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; for You have worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
God is trustworthy.
However, trust is a heart issue; God designed it this way. He wants a meaningful relationship with us, so rather than demanding that we trust Him, God prioritizes earning our trust: He tells us the truth, shows His faithfulness, loves us with perfect love, and proves Himself trustworthy over and over.

Isaiah 43:10 “You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “And My servant whom I have chosen so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I Am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me. 11 I, even I, I am LORD, and there is no savior besides Me. 12 It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, and there was no strange god among you [no one else has done or ever could do what God has done for us!]; so you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “And I am God. 13 Even from eternity I am He, and there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?”
He is strong, faithful, and trustworthy. He declares this and proves it. As we respond with trust, we get to experience this.
He knows that without trusting Him, you won’t rely on Him. You may pray, but without trusting Him with what you pray for, you won’t let Him work in His way, and you won’t wait long on His timing. Without actively trusting Him, you won’t let Him help or let Him be all He wants to be for you.
Without actively trusting Him, you won’t let Him help or let Him be all He wants to be for you.
So, for your fulfillment and His joy, let Him earn your trust so that you allow Him to love and fulfill you and bless others through you.
