Living in relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ empowers people to make positive change inside and out, more than laws, education, positive reinforcement, peer pressure, shame, or threats.
People need Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of sins, and new life in relationship with Christ and every benefit of God's grace that comes with Him.
Yet being "born again" doesn't automatically effect radical transformation in the new believer's lifestyle.
Old habits and desires don't necessarily cease. Sin doesn't immediately give way without a fight. We need to put on the new man daily by faith. And present yourselves alive to God daily by faith. And don't just be a hearer of the word but a doer, i.e., say yes to Jesus, then walk with Jesus.
While Jesus purchased our freedom on the cross, it is by walking with Jesus by faith through the challenges of life that we experience our freedom from the bondage of sin.
As we abide in ongoing personal relationship with Christ and we learn to trust Him with us, and to allow Him to influence our life and choices by saying yes to His lead and walking with Him by faith. And when do, we begin to taste and enjoy the liberty which He's freely given the believer.
John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing... 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you... 9 Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
"Abide in Me." "Let My words abide in you." "Abide in My love."
The power for personal, churchwide, and cultural renewal is such fellowship with Jesus Christ.
